At Mainline, our Foremen play a critical role in delivering complex projects that enhance the communities we serve. This position is part of our Underground Maintenance group, reporting directly to the Superintendent, and is responsible for overseeing projects involving the installation, rehabilitation, and maintenance of underground water, storm, and sanitary services for residential and capital underground projects.

How You’ll Add Value
- Conduct preconstruction services, including developing site logistics, schedules, phasing, design and constructability reviews, and budget planning, ensuring projects are ready to launch
- Oversee quality control, sub-trade coordination, project schedules, and field cost management
- Lead safety efforts by conducting inspections, reporting incidents, facilitating orientations, and holding toolbox meetings; engage management in safety initiatives and participate in training to uphold our safety commitment
- Plan construction methods, material quantities, equipment needs, work schedules, and track hours worked
- Coordinate assigned work with company departments, and subcontractors to ensure alignment
- Work closely with project managers to align on budgets, schedules while assisting in the resolution of outstanding quality and construction items
- Collaborate with consulting designers and team members to deliver seamless execution, including preparing and facilitating project meetings
- Perform contract work in compliance with specifications and project requirements
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications and complete the necessary documentation including timesheets, safety meeting minutes, and incident reports
- Review, approve, and track daily construction operations to ensure project objectives are met
- Provide orientation and task-specific training for employees, especially new hires, to ensure that they’re set up for success and cross trained where possible
- Maintain accurate project records, including material quantities, personnel hours, and equipment usage
What You Bring
- 4 – 6+ years of experience in underground water, storm, and sanitary utility construction with minimum 3 years of supervisory experience
- Experience operating CCTV truck, hydrovac, and combination flush truck
- Proven ability to perform and comply with industry standards such as AWWA and PACP
- Experience in the heavy civil construction industry is considered an asset
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract
- In-depth knowledge of underground materials, systems, and construction methodologies, with proficiency in reading drafts, drawings, and prints
- Proven ability to collaborate, coordinate, guide, and support field teams applying diverse management styles to accommodate the unique needs of our workforce
- A proactive and forward-thinking mindset, anticipating actions and occurrences three months or more in advance
- Physical ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. regularly, work in outdoor conditions, and perform long hours or days of continuous service as needed
- A professional demeanor and a problem-solving mindset when interacting with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and the public
- Commitment to projecting a positive and professional image, modeling exceptional customer service, and addressing inquiries or concerns effectively
- Willing to travel and work out of town across Alberta for short, fixed-term periods, as needed (housing to be provided by the company, where appropriate)
