As the HSSE Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of a project’s safety program. Reporting to the Health & Safety Director, you will play a pivotal role in holding teammates accountable and providing support, while coaching and mentoring new staff in the safety culture of LAURIN. You will be expected to lead by example and promote LAURIN’s safety Culture in all aspects of the job.
As a supervisor, you will be responsible for complying with these health and safety guidelines:
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Initiate and promote H&S Policies and procedures in compliance with IHSA COR Standards and relevant provincial regulations.
- Conduct weekly inspections of construction sites, facilities and equipment to identify hazards to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Develop job Hazard Analysis/Safe work procedures with subtrades in relation to the high-risk activity boards onsite.
- Verify that the team’s weekly safety inspection is completed in line with their Safety manual requirements.
- Assist in giving First Aid if onsite, leading the Project Emergency Response plan as required.
- Assist with incident/injury/near miss reporting and complete the incident investigation report based on your findings
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent a reoccurrence.
- Report all incidents and injuries to the Health & Safety Director, while keeping team members informed as information is gathered.
- Promote and cultivate a culture of safety and accountability by promoting awareness, communication and participation in HSE initiatives at all levels of the organization.
- Stay up to date with current legislation, industry trends and technologies to enhance HSSE practices within the organization while fulfilling COR guidelines.
- Co-chair the JHSC committees and help update and distribute meeting minutes to key stakeholders on the project and in the company (workers, subtrades, project safety reps, team members etc.)
- Collaborate with project management team to establish and monitor processes as per the client and project requirements. Monitor progress towards achieving organizational goals, with COR compliance as a priority.

Education:
- Experience in Health and Safety within the construction industry.
- Relevant Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the Health and Safety Field.
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Acts and Regulations.
- Incident investigation training/experience is considered an asset.
